Balcony / Window "Drop Arm" Awning
-
Ideal for balconies, drop arm awnings are designed to shade the window and prevent internal glare
and/or fading of curtains and indoor furniture. Stylish and simple, they are a popular choice both
for domestic use and for shops, cafes and restaurants.
-
We currently offer drop arm awnings in five colours - ivory, plain
green, terracotta, yellow and grey stripe, and blue and white stripe -
and in three sizes:
-1m wide, projection 1m.
- 2m wide, projection 1.5m
- 3m wide, projection 1.5m
Our drop arm awnings come with a half cassette to project the fabric
when retracted.
-
The awning fabric is made from hardwearing, waterproof, rot-proof, PU and UV stabilised 180gsm
polyester and is easy to sponge clean. Note that our drop arm awnings are not really big enough to
sit under

The key questions are:

The standard awnings are available in all widths from 2.0m to 4.5m. The half cassette awnings are
available in all widths from 2.5m to 6.0m. The full cassette awnings are available in all widths
from 2.5m to 5.0m.
What style do you want? (And what is your budget)?
The main difference in style is the cassette. The cassette is the casing into which the awning
retracts - half cassette awnings have a 'half' cassette which sits on top of the fabric roll,
thereby protecting it from rain and dirt. The valence does not retract back into the cassette.
Full cassette awnings have a 'full cassette' the awning retracts completely back into the cassette
and is therefore fully protected against the elements. Standard awnings have no cassette
they are our least expensive awning.
Full cassette awnings are significantly more expensive than the other models. In general they are a
heavier duty model, able to withstand 'robust' use. As well as residential use, they are ideal for
commercial use in shops and pubs etc.

Manual versus electric
-
All three styles - standard, half cassette and full cassette - are available as manual only awnings.
They are operated by a winding handle on the side of the awning.
-
In addition our half and full cassette awnings are available as electric awnings. In general, an
electric awning costs between £75 and £100 more than the same model without a motor, depending on
whether you want operation by wall switch only, or by wall switch and remote control. Including a
wind sensor will add a further £75.
How are the electric awnings operated?
The awnings can be operated by a wall switch or by remote control. We offer the following options
the price depends on the option selected. Please note that not every option is available on every
awning see the individual product details to confirm the available options.
Option 1:
Awning with indoor wall switch only.
Option 2:
Awning with remote control kit containing a receiver box and two remote controls. Fix the receiver box to a wall indoors. The remotes are radio controlled and can be operated indoors and outdoors. The receiver box also has its own switch.
Option 3:
Awning with remote control kit as above and a wind, sun and rain sensor. The wind, sun and rain sensor opens the awning automatically when the sun comes out and closes it automatically in high winds.
-
The remote control receiver box can be mounted externally by purchasing our waterproof housing.
- Some awnings include a winding handle for use in the event of a failure in the power supply.
