Sail Shades For Schools
Remember last summer?... outdoor events that exposed you to the cancer causing ultraviolet rays of the summer sun. Hot, humid, overheated classrooms.
High heat or UV levels can put your health at risk, hot environments and exposure to UV are not conducive to healthy living. Educational facilities today
often are prefabricated or built without considering the effects of the sun's harmful UV rays. Where are the eaves and porches of yesteryear? Gone to reduce
building costs! Improving the shade provided within building structures is expensive, but the need is clear. Purpose built shade areas at school and other
sun smart initiatives go a long way towards providing the environment needed to reduce exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays and, as a byproduct, by reducing
your exposure to UV, a healthier living environment.
Your timetable and ultraviolet radiation
The highest risk months are usually the summer months. However, there can be considerable differences throughout the day and over the summer months.
As part of general skin protection strategies and personal development programme, does your school or sports park:
provide adequate shade in the grounds by building shade structures and/or planting trees
at break intervals and lunch times encourage students, staff without adequate clothing/protection to use shaded or covered areas
use purpose built shady areas whenever possible
encourage students to use shade and shelter during summer and at outdoor sporting functions
